item_edit_general_cps [CE Item Writing (CPS)]

===== Item Edit General (CPS) =====
The Item General edit page allows users to edit general information for an Item record.  General information includes [[concepts#status and substatus|Status]], [[concepts#Effective and Expiry Dates|Effective and Expiry Dates]], links to [[author_entry|Authors]], [[copyright_entry|Copyrights]] and [[competency_entry|Competencies]].  Once changes are made the user can click the **Save** button in the bottom right hand corner to commit changes to the database.  Note: User permissions might be restricted by [[security_edit_forms|Form permissions]], [[security_edit_banks|Bank permissions]] or the record being [[concepts#Record Locking|locked]].

Note: if the Item is currently in use on any Exam, a warning message appears in yellow at the top of the page.
==== Item Fields ====

|Item ID|Unique ID generated automatically when item is created.|
|Display ID|This is entered by the user to help keep track of Items. It differs from the Item ID in that the Item ID is automatically generated while the Display ID is entered by the user. It can be Alphanumeric.|
|External ID|External IDs are used when mapping back and forth to other systems.|
|Status|In Development - The current record is still being created. It is not yet ready to be used on active Exams. \\ Field Testing - The Item is available to Draft and Field Testing Exams.  \\ Active - The current record is ready to be used on active Exams. Inactive - The current record is not active, it cannot be used if it is set to inactive.  For information regarding status rules, please see [[concepts#status and substatus|Status]]|
|LC Substatus|For LC Item banks only.  Tracks a Substatus value for the Item.|
|TR Substatus|For TR Item banks only.  Tracks a Substatus value for the Item.|
|Item Group ID|Click the **Select** button to open an [[Item_group_entry|Item Group]] selector.  Binds the Item to the Item Group.  Click the red X to remove the link.|
|Group Sequence|Sets the sequence of the Item within the Item Group.  Item Groups that do not allow partial selection or randomized sequencing add all Items within the Group when linked to an Exam in the specified sequence.|
|Account(TR)|TR Bank only.  Values are Stock, CPS HR, RC, Client.  Used for filtering Items.|
|Client Code (TR)|TR Bank only.  Free form text field.|
|Access Level/Keyword|Free form text field.|
|Effective Date |By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected.  Either to be edited or linked to another record.  An effective record is a record with an Effective Date prior to today.  By default, the Effective Date is set to the previous day on all newly created records. [[concepts#effective_and_expiry_dates|Effective and Expiry Dates]]|
|Expiry Date|By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected.  Either to be edited or linked to another record.  An expired record is a record with an Expiry Date prior to today.  By default, the Expiry Date is set to December 31, 2100 on all newly created records. |Competency|Links the Item to the Competency. Click the **Select** button to open a [[competency_entry|Competency]] selector. Click the red X to remove the link.|
Select a Competency from the tree or use the filter controls to drill down to a specific competency.  Click the **Select ** button to select a competency or the X in the upper right hand of the selector window to close the Competency Selector.

=== Search Filter ===
The Competency filter consists of three radio buttons that control they type of search.  Selecting Competency ID, Title or External ID makes the filter search for Competencies that have partial matched on the Competency ID, Title or External ID respectively. 

A filtering search is done by: 
  * Selecting the Search type using the radio buttons
  * Typing the text to be searched for in the //Search// box.  Note: as you type, the //Search// box displays values to select from. 
  * Clicking the search (magnifying glass) button.

|Copyright|Click the **Select** button to open a [[Copyright_entry|Copyright]] selector.  Links the Item to the Copyright.  Click the red X to remove the link.|
|Not With|Free form text field.|
|Not Near|Free form text field.|
|Clone|Free form text field.|
|KSA|Free form text field.|
|Stats Evaluation|LC Bank only.  Free form text field.|
|Angoff 2|LC Bank only.  Used in estimating cut score of an Exam.  Numeric value.|
|Angoff 3|LC Bank only.  Used in estimating cut score of an Exam.  Numeric value.|
|Vendor Transfer|LC Bank only.  Free form text field.|
|Temporary Tag 1|LC Bank only.  Free form text field.|
|Temporary Tag 2|LC Bank only.  Free form text field.|
|Temporary Set Tag|LC Bank only.  Free form text field.|
|Matrix|LC Bank only.  Free form text field.|

The tab strip at the top of the page allows the user to go back to the Item entry grid [[item_entry|Selection]], to the [[item_edit_text|Item Edit Text]] page, to the [[item_edit_value|Item Edit Value]] page, to the [[item_edit_competency|Item Edit Competency]] page, to the [[item_edit_reference|Item Edit Reference]] page, to the [[item_edit_meta|Item Edit Meta]] page, to the [[item_edit_attachment|Item Edit Attachment]] page, to the [[item_edit_stats|Item Edit Statistics]] page or [[usage|Usage]] page.  Note: depending on system configuration not all options are available.

==== Alternate Versions ====
If there are multiple versions of the Item, the user can navigate amongst them using the **Select Version** drop down in the blue info bar.  See [[concepts#Versioning|Versioning]] for more.
