===== Author Edit General =====
The Author general edit page allows users to edit general information for an Author record.  Once changes are made the user can click the **Save** button in the bottom right hand corner to commit changes to the database.  Note: User permissions might be restricted by [[security_edit_forms|Form permissions]], [[security_edit_banks|Bank permissions]] (if in Bank Level 3 [[concepts#Banks and Bank Level|Banks and Bank Level]]) or the record being [[concepts#Record Locking|locked]].

==== Tab Strip ====
The tab strip at the top of the page allows the user to go back to the Author entry grid [[author_entry|Selection]], to the [[author_edit_notes|Notes and Custom]] page or [[usage|Usage]] page.  Audit will navigate to the [[audit|Audit page]] and displays Audit information for the selected record.

| Effective Date | By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected.  Either to be edited or linked to another record.  An effective record is a record with an Effective Date prior to today.  By default, the Effective Date is set to the previous day on all newly created records. | Birthdate| Use the calendar feature to choose the author's birthdate.|
| User ID| The user ID assigned to the author. Choose from the drop down menu.|
