===== Item Edit Competency =====
The Item competency edit page allows users to maintain [[competency_entry|Competency]] links to the selected Item record.  Competencies can be linked or removed.  [[start#TDA Inc.|TDA]] can customize the [[competency_type_entry|Competency Types]] linked on this page.  

**Important:** Competency changes are not applied until the **Save** button in the bottom right hand corner is clicked to commit changes to the database.  Note: User permissions might be restricted by [[security_edit_forms|Form permissions]], [[security_edit_banks|Bank permissions]] or the record being [[concepts#Record Locking|locked]].  Note: depending on system configuration this option may not be available.

==== Select a Competency ====
To select or change a competency, click the **Select** button to the right of the competency control.

This will open a Competency selector.

Select the Competency and click the **Select** button.  This will close the Competency selector and display the selected Competency.

==== Clear a Competency ====
To clear a Competency, click the **Clear** button to the right of the competency control.

==== Tab Strip ====
The tab strip at the top of the page allows the user to go back to the Item entry grid [[item_entry|Selection]], to the [[item_edit_general|Item Edit General]] page, to the [[item_edit_text|Item Edit Text]] page, to the [[item_edit_value|Item Edit Value]] page, to the [[item_edit_reference|Item Edit Reference]] page, to the [[item_edit_meta|Item Edit Meta]] page, to the [[item_edit_attachment|Item Edit Attachment]] page, to the [[item_edit_stats|Item Edit Statistics]] page or [[usage|Usage]] page.  Audit will navigate to the [[audit|Audit page]] and displays Audit information for the selected record.  Note: depending on system configuration not all options are available.

==== Alternate Versions ====
If there are multiple versions of the Item, the user can navigate amongst them using the **Select Version** drop down in the blue info bar.  See [[concepts#Versioning|Versioning]] for more.
