+The **Is Dichotomous?** checkbox (in purple) controls whether the item is Dichotomous.  Dichotomous items can only have 1 correct option worth 1 point and all other options are incorrect and worth 0.  Checking the **Is Dichotomous?** checkbox means that when any option is flagged as correct it automatically sets the value to 1 point and all other options become incorrect and their value is set to 0 points.  For Likert scaled Items, make sure **Is Dichotomous?** is unchecked so that each option can have its own value and correct/incorrect state.
