Reference Type Entry

The Reference Type Entry tool is used to create and maintain Reference Types. Reference Types are used in setting up Reference information. Examples of Reference Types are “Book” and “Web site”.

Authorised users may create, modify or expire Reference Type records.

Reference Type Entry is reached from the Main Menu, System → Reference Type Entry

Special Filters

The Reference Type Entry grid has special filter controls in the title bar.

  • Include Expired Records by default is unchecked. This means Reference Type records that have an Expiry Date prior to today are not displayed. When checked, all Reference Type records (including expired) are displayed. Effective and Expiry Dates
  • Language Selector is used to display language specific fields for the Reference Type records. The Title field for an Reference Type is language specific. Selecting a different language from the selector displays the alternate language values for the title field in the Reference Type grid.

Context Options

Right-clicking on a row in the Reference Type grid will open a context menu.

Edit General

Navigates to the General edit page for the selected record. The Reference Type general edit page allows users to edit general information for an Reference Type record. Once changes are made the user can click the Save button in the bottom right hand corner to commit changes to the database. Note: User permissions might be restricted by Form permissions or the record being locked.

Tab Strip

The tab strip at the top of the page allows the user to go back to the Reference Type entry grid by clicking Selection tab. Audit will navigate to the Audit page and displays Audit information for the selected record.

Alternate Language Text

The Title field is language specific. To maintain alternate languages of the Title, select the alternate language from the Language selector in the title bar. Make your changes and click the Save button.

Reference Type Fields

Reference Description
Reference Type ID Will populate automatically when the Reference Type is created. Unique identifier of the Reference Type.
Title The title of the Reference Type. This is a language specific field.
Sequence The sequence this Email Type will appear in a list of Reference Types. This can be used to prioritize an Reference Type in the list.
Effective Date By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected. Either to be edited or linked to another record. An effective record is a record with an Effective Date prior to today. By default, the Effective Date is set to the previous day on all newly created records.
Expiry Date By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected. Either to be edited or linked to another record. An expired record is a record with an Expiry Date prior to today. By default, the Expiry Date is set to December 31, 2100 on all newly created records.

Audit

Navigates to the Audit grid for the selected record.
