The Report select tool is used to select reports to view, print or export. Item Writing ships with many stock exams. Custom reports are also accessible through the Report Selector.

Report Selector is reached from the Main Menu, System → Report Selector

This will navigate the user to the Report Selector Page.

Selecting a Report

Report Selector lists available reports, both stock and custom in the report selector grid. Available reports are based on user Form permissions. The report grid is filterable based on report groups. See Grid Navigations for more.

Preview a Report

Each report in the report grid has a thumbnail of the report. To view a larger preview image, click the thumbnail image. A larger image is shown.

Additional Report Options

Some reports support a customizable client name and footer message to appear on the report. To control the text values of these use the Client Name and Footer Message entry controls.

Running a Report

To run a report, select the report from the report grid and click the Report button.

Exam Reports

Some reports, like the Exam Answer Key report require the user to select an Exam as well. When the report is selected, an Exam selection grid becomes visible. Select an Exam from the Exam selection grid and click the Report button.

Stats Reports

Some reports, like the Stats - Candidate Competency report require the user to select a Stat Set as well. When the report is selected, an Stats selection grid becomes visible. Select a Stats Set from the Stats selection grid and click the Report button.

Report Viewer

When the report is run, a Report Viewer window is opened with the report rendered inside. Depending on the complexity and volume of the report, some reports might take some time to render.

Report Viewer Toolbar

The Report Viewer has a toolbar at the top of the page.

The user can navigate to the first, previous, next and last pages as well as jump to a specific page.

Export

The user can export the report contents to a variety of different formats in the Export drop down list. Click the Export button to export to the desired format.

Refresh

The user can refresh the report which will rebuild the report with the latest information from the database.

The report as rendered in the Report Viewer is by default rendered as a web preview. This means page breaking rules are not enforced. To see how the report renders when rendered for a printing format click the Print Preview button.

Print

To print the report, click the Print button

Document Map

Some reports contain a hierarchical set of data that lends itself to a Document Map or table of contents. For these reports a Document Map button appears. The user can toggle this button to show/hide the Document Map.
