Exam Entry

The Exam Entry tool is used to create and maintain Exams. Maintenance of Exams include the Exam information, the Sections, Items, Item Groups and Attachments that make up the Exam Layout. The Exam can also be selected to build Exam Documents, run Calculations, maintain Sessions and Registrations and run Exam specific reports and exports.

Authorised users may create, modify or expire Exam records.

Exam entry is reached from the Main Menu, Item Writing → Exam Tools → Exam Entry

Special Filters

The Exam entry grid has special filter controls in the title bar.

  • Include Prior Versions by default is unchecked. This means only the Exam records that are current version are displayed. When checked, all Exam records (including previous versions) are displayed.
  • Include Expired Records by default is unchecked. This means exam records that have an Expiry Date prior to today are not displayed. When checked, all Exam records (including expired) are displayed. Effective and Expiry Dates
  • Language Selector is used to display language specific fields for the Exam records. The Title and Description fields for an Exam are language specific. Selecting a different language from the selector displays the alternate language values for these fields in the Attachment grid.

Bulk Actions

The Exam grid has bulk actions. Bulk Actions refer to actions taken against a single or multiple selected records. To learn more about selecting records click here. If no records are selected when performing a bulk action, a warning message is displayed.

  • Update will apply the specified field changes to all selected records. See Bulk Update.
  • Expire will expire the selected records.
  • Copy will copy the selected record to another Bank. See Banks and Bank Level and Bank Copy

Context Menu

Right-clicking on a row in the Exam grid will open a context menu.

Edit Context

Edit General

Navigates to Exam Edit General page where the user can maintain information for the Exam record.

Edit Pass

Navigates to Exam Edit Pass page where the user can maintain pass/fail information for the Exam record.

Edit Notes

Navigates to Exam Edit Notes and Custom page where the user can maintain notes and custom information for the Exam record.

Edit Layout

Navigates to Exam Edit Layout page where the user can create Sections and link Items, Item groups and Attachments to the Exam. The user can also create alternate Forms for the Exam.

Calculations Context

Process

Navigates to Process page where the user can calculate or recalculate Stats Results sets for the exam based on selected Sessions.

Include/Exclude

Navigates to Include/Exclude page where the user can maintain which Items on the Exam are Included and which Items are Excluded. Included Items on an Exam aggregate Stats on themselves and impact Candidate results. Excluded Items aggregate Stats on themselves, but do not impact Candidate results.

Mark Entry

Navigates to Mark Entry page where the user can create or maintain registered Candidate responses for the Exam. Candidates must be registered to the exam to create or maintain responses for them.

Graph

Navigates to Graph page where the user can select from existing calculated Stats Results sets and view a histogram of Candidate mark distribution as well as basic exam stats such as quantity Pass, quantity and low, high and average mark.

Results

Navigates to Results page where the user can select from existing calculated Stats Results sets and view raw Stats results of the Exam, Sections, Candidates, Items or Competencies. These results can be filtered and the views (field data selected) can be customized. The resulting data can be exported.

Maintenance

Navigates to Maintenance page where the user can purge existing Stats Result sets form the system.

Reports Context

The Exam Reports is a set of reports or exports of data related to the selected Exam.

Right click a row in the Exam grid and choose the Reports → and the report/export to run.

Answer Key

Navigates to Answer Key page where the user can view or export the Exam's Answer Key. The Answer Key shows the Items on the exam along with all correct options, Competency and Reference mappings.

Results Export

Navigates to Results Export page where the user can view various combinations of binomial results, points awarded per Item, Candidate responses and scores at Exam, Section or Competency level.

Document Comparison

Navigates to Document Comparison page where the user can compare Items on the Exam for similarity in text to other Items on the Exam.

Other Context

Document

Navigates to Exam Document page where the user can open a previously built Exam Document or create a new one.

Copy

Exam Copy allows the User to copy the Exam to a new Exam or, to copy a Section of the Exam to an existing Exam.

Session Entry

The Session Entry tool is used to create and maintain Sessions for Exams. A Session is a logical grouping of Registrants, which are Candidates taking the Exam. Sessions can be used to differentiate writing centers, different seating dates for Exams or other logical groupings such as first time writers vs repeat writers.

Session Entry is reached from the Exam context menu.

Audit

Navigates to the Audit grid for the selected record.

Usage

Navigates to the Usage grid for the selected record.
