Mark Entry

The Mark Entry page allows the user to create or maintain registered Candidate responses for the Exam. Candidates must be registered to the exam to create or maintain responses for them.

Authorised users may create or modify registered Candidate response records.

Select a Section

Candidate response records are stored by Section for the Exam. To create or maintain a response record the user must first select a section using the Select Section drop down list.

Select a Registrant

Now that a Section has been selected, the user must select a registered Candidate (registrant) to maintain responses for. The Registrant selection grid allows the user to filter on any of the registrant fields in order to drill down to a specific candidate. For more on grid navigation, click here. Once the Candidate is selected click the Load Responses link in the left column of the registrant row.

Edit Responses

Once the responses have been loaded, the Edit Responses area will display the registrants responses for the selected Section. The edit responses will have one entry for each item in the Section. If there are 100 Items in the section, there will be 100 entry boxes. If this is a new entry of responses the entry boxes will all be empty. If it is an existing response record being maintained, the current values will be displayed.

Multiple Choice Responses

Multiple Choice Items (4 Option, 5 Option, True/False) are displayed as A,B,C,D,E in the Edit Responses area. Blank or unanswered responses are displayed as blanks with a yellow border. Double bubbles are displayed as a * with a red border. This allows a user to more easily identify scanning or entry errors.

When the user navigates to a response entry box a message appears in the bottom left of the Edit Responses area, indicating valid values for the Item. For a Multiple Choice item, valid entries are A,B,C,D,E or a space for a blank or a * for a double bubble.

Constructed Response / Essay Responses

Constructed Response/Essay Items are displayed as numeric values representing the number of marks awarded for the Item. in the Edit Responses area. Double bubbles are displayed as a * with a red border. This allows a user to more easily identify scanning or entry errors.

When the user navigates to a response entry box a message appears in the bottom left of the Edit Responses area, indicating valid values for the Item.

Editing a Response

When a response is edited, it's background is shaded a greyish blue. This indicates to the user that they have modified that response. When editing is complete, click the Save button to the bottom right of the Edit Responses area. If the user wants to revert any changes they can choose to Load Responses again.

Tab Strip

The tab strip at the top of the page allows the user to go back to the Process page, to the Include/Exclude page, to the Graph page, to the Results page or the Maintenance page.
