Exam Copy
The Exam Copy tool has two tabs: Exam Copy and Section Copy. The Exam Copy tool is used to either:
- Copy an existing Exam to create a new Exam with the same layout and optionally same registrations and responses.
- Copy a Section from an existing Exam to another existing Exam.
To navigate back to the Exam tool, either process an Exam or Section copy or, click the Cancel button.
Exam Copy
This tab is used to copy the selected Exam record to a new Exam record. All of the meta for the selected Exam including its layout (Sections, Items, Attachments) is copied to the new Exam record with a couple of minor differences.
- The Exam Version is reset to 1. Unlike a Reversion, the newly copied Exam record does not have any ties back to the source Exam. It is considered a new Exam with Version = 1.
- The Entered date is set to today.
- The Entered by is set to the User who copied the record.
The User can provide a Title and Description for the new Exam.
The User can optionally check the Include Responses checkbox. If checked, for every Session in the source Exam a new Session will be created and linked to the new Exam. Every Registration to the source Exam is copied to the destination Exam. All responses recorded for the source Exam Registrants are copied to the new Exam registrants.
A User would typically copy responses to create “what if” scenarios for testing against the new Exam while not affecting the original Exam.
Once the Title, Description and Include Responses are set, click the Copy Exam button. This will navigate the user to an Exam Copy progress page. Here, progress bars and messages will indicate to the user the progress of creating the new Exam. Depending on the volume of Registrant responses, the Exam Copy process may take a few seconds to a few minutes to complete.
Section Copy
Instance
The User must select an Instance to copy. By default, Instance 1 is selected.
Section
The User must select which Section from the Selected Exam to copy. Select the Section from the drop down list.
Ignore Duplicates
There is the possibility that Items that exist in the source Section may already exist on the destination Exam. By rule, an Item can only be added to an Exam once. Normally, attempting to copy an Item that is already linked to the destination Exam would throw an exception. By checking the Ignore Duplicates checkbox, the exception message is suppressed.
