Exam Edit General
The Exam general edit page allows users to edit general information for an Exam record. Once changes are made the user can click the Save button in the bottom right hand corner to commit changes to the database. Note: User rights might be restricted by Form rights, Bank rights or the record being locked.
Alternate Language Text
Both the Title and Description field are language specific. To maintain alternate languages of the Title and Description select the alternate language from the Language selector in the title bar. Make your changes and click the Save button.
Linking a Copyright
To link a Copyright, click the Select button next to the Copyright field.
This opens a Copyright selector. Select the Copyright and click the Add Selected button.
The Copyright selector closes and the selected copyright is displayed.
Exam Fields
Field | Description |

Exam ID | Generated when the Exam is created. Unique identifier of the Exam. |
Title | The title for the Exam. This is a language specific field. |
Description | A description for the Exam. Longer and more verbose description than Title. This is a language specific field. |
External ID | External IDs are used when mapping back and forth to other systems. |
Auto Scan ID | Can be used in conjunction with Scanning (![]() |
Status | In Development - The Exam is still being created. Any Item or Attachment can be linked to it. Field Testing - The Exam is ready for trial runs. Only Field Testing or Active Items and Active Attachments can be linked to it. Active - The Exam is in production. Only Active Items and Attachments can be linked to it. |
Substatus | |
Effective Date | By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected. Either to be edited or linked to another record. An effective record is a record with an Effective Date prior to today. By default, the Effective Date is set to the previous day on all newly created records. |
Expiry Date | By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected. Either to be edited or linked to another record. An expired record is a record with an Expiry Date prior to today. By default, the Expiry Date is set to December 31, 2100 on all newly created records. |
Audio | Check the box if this is an audio file. |
Visual Enhanced | Indicates visually enhanced documents exist for this attachment (for special needs writers). |
Brailed | Indicates brailled documents exist for this attachment (for special needs writers). |
Attachment Type | Select the attachment type from the drop down menu. |
Stock Identifier | Points to the stock inventory identifier. |
Ready | Indicates the attachment is ready to be used. |
Audience | Select the Audience for the exam from the drop down menu. This allows exams to be printed for a specific audience. |
Printing Requirements | Use the drop down to specify printing requirements. Outline specific printing requirements of the attachment (paper size). |
GUID | Global Unique Identifier. |
Copyright ID | Attachments can be linked to a Copyright. |
Field Description Title Enter the Title for the Exam External ID Read Only field. Is used to link CE exams to ATOMS for updating Exam Meta. Auto Scan ID Automatically recognize a bubble sheet based on this ID. Description Enter a description for the exam. Status The status may be used to keep track of the development of an exam Active - The current record is ready to be used on active exams. Draft - The current record is still being created. It is not yet ready to be written. Field Testing - The current record is being tested to see if it is ready to be written. Inactive - The current record is not active, it cannot be used if it is set to inactive. For information regarding status rules, please see Status under General Navigation. Many users will not apply statuses, simply leave all statuses to default value and these rules will not apply. SubStatus Another level of tracking the development of an exam. For example, if the Status was set to Active, the sub status might be Back from printers (meaning the exam had already been printed) Exam Type Choose field test, practical or theory. Copyright ID Select a copyright ID from the list. These will only appear if copyrights are already set up. TOS ID Table of specifications reference ID, Select the TOS ID if building a TOS exam (click the … to select an available TOS ID). Available Date/Time When the Exam will be available to be written by the candidates or marked by the markers. Applies to Marking Center and Online testing. Defaults to Yesterday Expiration Date/Time Date when the Exam will no longer be available to be written by Candidates or marked by Markers. Applies to marking Center and Online Testing. Defaults to January 1, 2100 Effective Date When the Exam will be active as a record. Expiry Date When the Exam will no longer be available to be written by the candidates or marked by the markers. Enabled This is whether the Exam is available or not. This will override the effective and available dates. If the exam is not enabled, it cannot be challenged by the candidates or marked by the markers. Pass Tab - Exam
Field Description Mark Version (Maximum) How many versions are available to be marked. Ex: 1 vs 3. When doing arbitration markings, this must be set to 3. Pass Mark The score a candidate must achieve to pass (either percentage or raw dictated by pass type). Pass Type Raw mark is the actual score on the exam. How many points they earned. The percentage is the number of points earned, divided by the total number of point multiplied by 100. Round Type Round up, round down, closest digit. GUID Global Unique Identifier. Used for security. Time The amount of time candidates have to write the exam (only applies to online exams).
