Security Entry Roles
The Security Roles entry tool is used to create and maintain security roles in CE. A Security Role is a set of permissions that can be assigned to a User. The User then inherits all permissions of the Role along with their own User rights. See Security Rights and Roles for more.
Authorised users may create, modify or expire security Roles. Note: you may not expire a Role if it is in use (Users are members of it).
Security Entry - Roles is reached from the Main Menu, System → Security Entry → Roles
This takes the user to the Security Entry - Roles grid. For more on grid navigation, click here.
Special Filters
The Security Entry - Role grid has special filter controls in the title bar.
- Include Expired Records by default is unchecked. This means Role records that have an Expiry Date prior to today are not displayed. When checked, all Role records (including expired) are displayed. Effective and Expiry Dates
Context Options
Edit General and Login
Navigates to Security Edit General page where the user can maintain information for the Role record.
Edit Forms
Navigates to Security Edit Forms page where the user can maintain which Forms (menu options) the Role has permissions to.
Edit Members
Navigates to Security Edit Members page where the user can maintain which Users are members of the Role.
Audit
Navigates to the Audit grid for the selected record.
