The Item General edit page allows users to edit general information for an Item record. General information includes Status, Effective and Expiry Dates, links to Authors, Copyrights and Competencies. Once changes are made the user can click the Save button in the bottom right hand corner to commit changes to the database. Note: User permissions might be restricted by Form permissions, Bank permissions or the record being locked.

Note: if the Item is currently in use on any Exam, a warning message appears in yellow at the top of the page.

Item Fields

Field Description
Item IDUnique ID generated automatically when item is created.
Display IDThis is entered by the user to help keep track of Items. It differs from the Item ID in that the Item ID is automatically generated while the Display ID is entered by the user. It can be Alphanumeric.
External IDExternal IDs are used when mapping back and forth to other systems.
EnabledChecked means Item is enabled, unchecked means Item is not enabled.
GUIDA unique ID generated for at creation of Item.
StatusIn Development - The current record is still being created. It is not yet ready to be used on active Exams.
Field Testing - The Item is available to Draft and Field Testing Exams.
Active - The current record is ready to be used on active Exams. Inactive - The current record is not active, it cannot be used if it is set to inactive. For information regarding status rules, please see Status
SubstatusTracks a Substatus value for the Item.
Item Group IDClick the Select button to open an Item Group selector. Binds the Item to the Item Group. Click the red X to remove the link.
Group SequenceSets the sequence of the Item within the Item Group. Item Groups that do not allow partial selection or randomized sequencing add all Items within the Group when linked to an Exam in the specified sequence.
Effective Date By default, on most tools, only effective/non-expired records are available to be selected. Either to be edited or linked to another record. An effective record is a record with an Effective Date prior to today. By default, the Effective Date is set to the previous day on all newly created records. Effective and Expiry Dates

AngoffUsed in estimating cut score of an Exam. Numeric value.
Assessment TypeTies to Marking Center.
AuthorClick the Select button to open a Author selector. Links the Item to the Author. Click the red X to remove the link.
CopyrightClick the Select button to open a Copyright selector. Links the Item to the Copyright. Click the red X to remove the link.

Tab Strip

The tab strip at the top of the page allows the user to go back to the Item entry grid Selection, to the Item Edit Text page, to the Item Edit Value page, to the Item Edit Competency page, to the Item Edit Reference page, to the Item Edit Meta page, to the Item Edit Attachment page, to the Item Edit Statistics page or Usage page. Audit will navigate to the Audit page and displays Audit information for the selected record. Note: depending on system configuration not all options are available.

Alternate Versions

If there are multiple versions of the Item, the user can navigate amongst them using the Select Version drop down in the blue info bar. See Versioning for more.
